Focus: service learning activity visiting a local elderly care home (EXAMPLE)
I’m choosing this focus because I want to make the experience more impactful for both students and the people in the care home. At the moment, students just turn up and do some activities without much thought. I’d like things to be more intentional, including students learning about how ageing impacts society and the importance of providing high-quality care for elderly people. I’d also like them to be able to run activities that the people in the home want to do and so for this, they will need to do some research (e.g. speaking to the residents and designing activities accordingly).
