About a month ago, I had a chat with some US university reps, and we shared the same concern. One of them talked about her experience as an international student during Trump’s first win in 2016. She reassured us that universities are very supportive of their students and do their best to protect them. Policies and changes take time to actually happen, so students should focus on what they can control right now—doing their best.

I think it’s important to stay updated with the news and information from universities, but we also need to keep encouraging students to have backup plans and options. The tricky part is helping parents manage their worries, especially when they hear rumors or misinformation from random sources.
